Heat

When you have nothing else to talk about, you talk about the weather.
The next five days in the Charlotte, NC area are expected to be extremely hot, with feels-like temperature highs ranging from 102°F to 109°F. Fortunately, we may experience some thunderstorms and rain; the rain is much-needed in many areas. At least I hope that’s fortunate and there’s no associated flooding. I’ve been taking Bentley, our newly adopted family dog, for shortened walks in the early morning hours before sunrise and after sunset to avoid the worst of the heat. I’ll claim I’m doing that for Bentley’s benefit, but I’m just as happy about it for myself.
If you’re in an area that’s experiencing this same level of heat, or worse, take care, my friends.
The only connection the above photo has is heat. It was made while we were parked in Utah while RVing — fond memories.

Yes, it is hot here, 94 degrees presently. Clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine. A wind blows but it is hot, also. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be hot but rain possible on Wednesday and Thursday. Bring it on.
I assume Bentley is pleased with the cooler morning and evening walks. Was that your idea or his?
I do love this image!!!
Yes, the majority of the nation is feeling the heat now, and much of the summertime world as well. We’ve been inching up our A/C so that it’s not running all the time and so that we don’t have to take out a loan to pay our electric bill. 😉 I’m not a fan of hot weather, no pun intended.
As for our walking situation, most of the time Bentley seems to drive things, and I only manage to steer a little once in a while. He has a strong personality and a head to match.
Thanks, I like this image as well. We spent about two months in southern Utah in 2016, and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. However, I remember how nice it was when we moved to a place with regular trees and green grass. Haha!
The heat and humidity here has been downright awful for the past couple weeks. Fortunately there is a break coming today and thru the weekend. I think about how much I appreciate the air conditioning we have, and yet how much it is creating this cycle of dealing with extra heat, which demands more air conditioning. If we were nomads, we would just relocate north for a while. Then I wonder if this life and society we are now a part of is just simply destined to reach a breaking point … someday. Then I decide I need to get out of my own head and go out in the heat for a while, look at some bugs or how some yard plants are doing, maybe do a little work outside. Drench in sweat, go back inside. Start again. :)
The photo is awesome BTW.
Today and tomorrow, there is a chance of rain, but this weekend is supposed to be cooler here. Haha! You know your perception has been altered when you think mid to upper 80s is major cool. In my opinion, our society will probably reach a breaking point, and I’m not so sure that isn’t good in the long run. Let me go “deep” here for a moment: I think we’ve lost sight of our priorities and have created an unsustainable imbalance of wealth and power, which, as a side effect, significantly hinders progress in addressing our changing climate.
I also struggle to drive myself out into the heat, and when I do, it’s for short periods before I quickly retreat inside to the A/C. Thanks for your comment about the photo, Mark. I appreciate that! Take care.
