Heat

Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, Utah, @APR2016

When you have nothing else to talk about, you talk about the weather.

The next five days in the Charlotte, NC area are expected to be extremely hot, with feels-like temperature highs ranging from 102°F to 109°F. Fortunately, we may experience some thunderstorms and rain; the rain is much-needed in many areas. At least I hope that’s fortunate and there’s no associated flooding. I’ve been taking Bentley, our newly adopted family dog, for shortened walks in the early morning hours before sunrise and after sunset to avoid the worst of the heat. I’ll claim I’m doing that for Bentley’s benefit, but I’m just as happy about it for myself.

If you’re in an area that’s experiencing this same level of heat, or worse, take care, my friends.

The only connection the above photo has is heat. It was made while we were parked in Utah while RVing — fond memories.

Yes, it is hot here, 94 degrees presently. Clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine. A wind blows but it is hot, also. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be hot but rain possible on Wednesday and Thursday. Bring it on.
I assume Bentley is pleased with the cooler morning and evening walks. Was that your idea or his?
I do love this image!!!

The heat and humidity here has been downright awful for the past couple weeks. Fortunately there is a break coming today and thru the weekend. I think about how much I appreciate the air conditioning we have, and yet how much it is creating this cycle of dealing with extra heat, which demands more air conditioning. If we were nomads, we would just relocate north for a while. Then I wonder if this life and society we are now a part of is just simply destined to reach a breaking point … someday. Then I decide I need to get out of my own head and go out in the heat for a while, look at some bugs or how some yard plants are doing, maybe do a little work outside. Drench in sweat, go back inside. Start again. :)
The photo is awesome BTW.
