A Moment Of Peace

Considering today’s chaotic world, I sought a photograph that conveyed feelings of peace and offered a sobering perspective. I recall standing by the Yellowstone River and making the image above, feeling both privileged and free in that moment. The vast open spaces of nature can be incredibly transformative. Being in that expansive landscape, with a clear flowing river, a rugged mountain range, and a sky brushed with clouds, revitalized my spirit then and continues to resonate with me now.

I can see how such a beautiful view and big open space of Montana would provide that escape. Great photo!
Now, if I only could teleport back there every once in a while to recharge. 😏 Thanks, Mark!
maybe some VR goggles 😜
I consider nature to be a sanctuary and a sacred place, that as you say is transformative and revitalizing. The more I venture into her landscape the more transformation we are able to experience. What a beautiful scene! Taken 8 years ago and it’s beauty still resonates. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and this image as they do make a ripple in peoples lives.
Eight years, but still awfully fresh in my mind. It’s easiest when you write for yourself, and if others get something from it, that’s gravy. 🙂 Thanks, Monte!
Here’s proof that folks shouldn’t write off black and white for landscape photography. Great shot, Earl.
Thanks, Ken! I experimented with both color and black and white, but I felt that the black and white did a much better job of highlighting the variety of textures, shadows, and contrast in this photo.
