Outpourings Of Nature

“Meanwhile, spring came, and with it the outpourings of Nature. The hills were soon splashed with wild flowers; the grass became an altogether new and richer shade of green; and the air became scented with fresh and surprising smells — of jasmine, honeysuckle, and lavender.”
― Dalai Lama XIV, Freedom in Exile: The Autobiography of the Dalai Lama

European Honeysuckle, North Carolina, @MAY2025

As the European honeysuckle blooms burst forth in vibrant clusters, they create a stunning spectacle. The sight is enchanting, with the fragrant blossoms cascading over the trellis, hopefully attracting bees and hummingbirds that flit joyfully among the blooms. The sweet aroma evokes a sense of nostalgia and warmth for those who grew up in this area.

It’s been an exceptional year for beautiful spring blooms. Perhaps it was due to the mild winter we had here in North Carolina. A few years ago, we created a privacy trellis of European Honeysuckle, which has reached fruition this year. It was a sight I had to try and capture.

The shallow DoF is really nice on these, Earl.

Congratulations on the Honeysuckle trellis! Those blossoms are amazingly brilliant and I can only imagine the fragrance they offer. I am glad you two are seeing the fruition of your efforts with these and your fers. Nature is so beautiful in so many ways!!!

Quite the colorful shrub! We have a similar one that my wife holds onto because it belonged to her mom, despite their tendency to be a bit invasive.
