I’m Good With Watching It Happen

I find it challenging to photograph Clematis flowers. They open in layers, and often by the time the final layer has opened, the first layers or pedals are already showing age or environmental damage. The Clematis flowers above are past prime, but spoke to me with a bit of stylizing. Perhaps because I’m a bit past prime myself and could use a touch-up here and there. 😉

Hostas are amazingly hardy and fast-growing. They are disease-resistant, tolerant to cold, heat, and shade. Only a week to ten days ago, the ground where this Hosta is was bare, and now the above plant spans almost a meter wide. Reminds me not to stand too long in any one spot.
Most of what we have planted now are perennials, so they require only minimal weeding, feeding, and watering during the season, along with a fresh layer of mulch in the spring. As designed, now it’s mostly just watching it happen and enjoying the results. I’m good with that! 😎

The Hostas are by far my favorite, but they have not even started to emerge yet, probably because we had so much cold weather and even snow last week. Better days ahead.
Hosta leaf shapes and their variegated colors are visually appealing, creating attractive corners or backdrops for other plants. We have several in our fairly small backyard.
I love that first image of the Clematis. The colors pop! I did not know that about them so I learned something new today. I could use a touch-up here and there, also!!!
I was probably a day late photographing these two blooms, but it represents how they are often seen.
