Nightly temperatures well below freezing are forecast for the coming week. Last winter, I had a raised cover over my hillside ferns, intended to be a short-term solution. My longer-term vision is that once the ferns are established, I’ll let them grow freely, only removing any intrusive weeds each year. In addition to the natural cover of fallen leaves from surrounding trees this winter, I’ve added a couple of bales of pine needles to blanket the ferns. We’ll see what survives come next spring. 🥶
What a wonderful gift of patience and living in mystery of what will come are in this project. I love you longer-term vision!!!!
Or “living with misery” if they all die this winter! Haha! Thanks, Monte.
