Bonnie usually grows a fern in a raised pot under one of our front trees each Spring, and then in October, before the first frost, I transplant it to the woods in the back. I did the transplant this year, just before our recent fall road trip to Vermont. I wandered back to the woods’ edge this morning with my camera to check how the ferns were fairing. As I stood there, the sun peeked through nearby trees whose leaves had turned yellow, and I saw this.
I slightly boosted the color saturation during post-processing, although the sun backlighting did help. I tossed in the sun starburst as a bonus.
I feel like “I’m having my cake and eating it too,” after enjoying peak leaf days in Vermont and New York and then coming back here to be allowed to experience another fall.
I would say you are, my friend! These scenes speak to me and even more so when the starburst is there!! Hope the ferns were okay.
I feel fortunate for the vast enjoyment this fall brings us. The ferns look okay, but perhaps they are starting to shut down for the year. But then it’s that time, isn’t it? Thanks, Monte.
Is it possible to overindulge on fall colors? Beautiful photo.
From my experience, it doesn’t seem possible. Thanks, Mark.
