After arriving in Vermont on a rainy afternoon, the following day was partly cloudy with much-welcomed sunshine. We enjoyed slow drives along Vermont’s tree-lined, curvy mountain roads, scenic routes, and dirt backroads. We had planned several days to explore the Vermont foliage, and our friends there told us that this year was one of the best for fall colors in recent memory. I’ll take their word for it because I can’t imagine the colors being much better.
Almost twenty years ago, Bonnie and I obtained a wedding license in Wallingford, VT, and were married at an inn just a few miles south of town. We find it amusing to remember the license experience because the clerk prepared it on an old manual typewriter, a bit of Vermont charm.

It seems the fall colors are wonderful this year. I smiled when I read that’s where you two married!!
Yes, it seems to be a good year for fall colors, although I’ve yet to hear a definitive explanation for what makes for an exceptional, colorful year. Yelp, the scene of the crime! Haha! 🙄
Vermont colors and typewriters- sounds like two neat things to incorporate into a tradition!
Absolutely, along with photography, all contribute to creating beautiful experiences and lasting memories.
Your trip reports from Vermont sure make me want to raise the priority to visit there sometime soon. The town charm, rolling hills, and of course the fall splendor all seem like great ingredients for an Autumn trip.
I admit I am biased, but I believe Vermont is truly special. I don’t think you’d be disappointed.
