I’m grateful for the much-needed rain that Post Tropical Cyclone Debby amply provided as it passed through the area yesterday. The weather apps indicate it rained about five inches here, but that seems high from my post-observation, at least locally. Still, it may be correct since a good part of my experience during the heaviest rain was fighting interstate traffic amid downpours, gusting winds, fog and blinding truck wheel-wash. Happily, there were no casualties in my efforts, although I was tired enough that I retired early last night. 😬
When almost daily browsing my small, familiar area of the Internet, I often admire the wonderful skies and clouds captured in photos by Monte Stevens. Monte lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, and often makes early morning trips to local nature preserves, where there seems to be an abundance of open skies and wonderful clouds. It’s not that we don’t have both of those things here in the Piedmont of North Carolina or along the Blue Ridge Mountains, but they don’t seem to be readily available as often. Or at least you have to travel a little further to find them. My point of this word hemorrhage is that when I selected this photo to post, I thought of Monte’s photos. “Here you go, Monte, for reference, in case you’ve forgotten what eastern clouds and open skies look like.” 😄
Beautiful my friend. It seems the skies here are more open since we have fewer trees and some wide open prairie to the east. Nothing more enjoyable than a view of rolling hills covered with lush green trees and shrubs. A beautiful contrast to the blue sky. Love the shadows cast by those clouds! You can share more of these any time you want!
Yelp, lush green trees and scrubs we’ve got. Hot and humid here at the moment.
Thanks, and take care, Monte.
