Looks to me like those trees were all about to go in for a swim when you happened by and they had to freeze in place so as to not give the game away that they are the most advanced beings on the planet.
It’s true though, if we could get to the root of things more readily we would not be so quick to judge I suspect :)
Mark, I’ve seen numerous individual shots of tree roots here and there but I don’t know that I’ve seen a series focused on them. I think it would be fascinating if done well. Thanks!

Well, you know now that you mentioned it as I turned away from these trees I thought I did see some movement out the corner of my eye. 😲
I seem to remember seeing an artist that did a series on showing roots of trees at one time, but can’t remember who or when I saw it.
