The above image is a derivative work from a photo I made at Darien, GA, in 2015. I feel the ink line drawing and watercolor treatment worked well for this image allowing the emphasis and de-emphasis of appropriate areas.
Darien, GA, was the second stop at the beginning of our full-time RV adventure in early 2015. Other reasons for remembering Darien are some of the best fresh large shrimp I’ve ever had and an excellent wide offseason dog-friendly beach at nearby Saint Simons Island, GA, which Maggie enjoyed immensely.
Looks like a rather large fishing economy in that harbor. I would love to sink my teeth into fresh shrimp. Now I’ll probably have that on my mind the rest of the day.
Monte, it probably looks like a larger fleet of vessels in the image than it actually was. Probably like most commercial fishing by individual multi-generational families it’s a lot of hard work just to break even much of the time. Still, fishing vessels docked and lined up always make for good photos/images. We bought those shrimp fresh almost right off the boats and then cooked them ourselves…they were great! :-)
