Perhaps as interesting as the waterfall itself was the surrounding canyon walls. Upper Mesa Falls, Idaho.

Between the Island Park area, Idaho, and Ashton, Idaho, you’ll find the beautiful Mesa Falls Scenic Byway passing through the lush Targhee National Forest. It’s a scenic loop drive of nearly thirty impressive miles which includes the beautiful lower and upper Mesa Falls.

At the upper Mesa Falls what caught my photographer’s eye was the wonderful gentle light upon the canyon walls behind and across from the falls. This is a worthwhile drive if you’re in the area.

It was partly cloudy during our visit at the upper falls and for a few overcast moments, a ray of light played against the back canyon wall. Upper Mesa Falls, Idaho.

Damn! We must have driven right past this area a few years ago. And I’ve always been a sucker for impressive waterfalls. A beautiful spot and some very nice images, Brooks.
