In a lovely green mountain valley at the head of the Santa Clara River in the Pine Valley Mountains lies the unincorporated census-designated small settlement of Pine Valley. It was settled in 1859 and at the 2010 census the population was just under 200.
One of the main landmarks is the Pine Valley Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, designed by shipbuilder Ebenezer Bryce in 1868 using the scheme of an upside-down boat. Pine Valley Chapel is the oldest Mormon chapel in continuous use in the United States.
Many of the homes in Pine Valley appear to be seasonal vacation or rental homes and most were empty this early in the season. On our visit we enjoyed the change of scenery and a picnic lunch at a spot just below the snow line.
A lovely area by the images you’ve posted. The romantic in me would think it cool to live in an area such as this.
Hey thanks, Monte. Pine Valley was a nice change of color pallet, greens instead of oranges. I thought it would be a nice place to live as well except it would probably take almost an hour to get to a decent grocery store.
