Hey, we did make it back for some fall colors — which is nice ever if the peak colors are well past. :-)
We drove two days back-to-back, a little over 600 miles total, from Crystal River, Florida to the Salisbury area of North Carolina arriving on Sunday afternoon. Not a bad two days travel, but it’s hard on Maggie to be in the truck for so long even when we schedule stops at least every two hours. Jeans, long sleeved shirts, and heat are things we haven’t used for many months, but it’s actually kinda refreshing…I love me some fall.
We’re at this location for a busy week taking care of appointments and things to be done and then we move again.
We’d planned a single move of 60+ miles from the Salisbury area to an area south of Charlotte in Ft. Mill, SC, but somethings come up and so we’re going to make an additional short stop on the way to accommodate it.
Stay tuned for more about the change that entails…
Change is our ever present friend.
Don’t know about change always being a friend, Steve. Certainly some change is for the good but at times change can be “forced” upon one and it in itself might not be for the better. However, I do believe how we react to change is most important…finding the points of light even in the darkest night. Thanks. :-)
Your life has been all change since you began this adventure. It is now the norm. I’m a bit envious of you guys. No, make that a lot.
Perhaps, Monte, you’re right in that at least in some manner change has become our new norm. I drove past our old house yesterday and was expecting some level of emotional connection but didn’t find it. Of course I miss certain things…having coffee on our old front porch on a cool fall morning, my big recliner, the wonderful pillow top mattress we had, etc. :-) But the most important thing, the quality of our previous day-to-day lives, I don’t miss. Maggie and I did a 2.5m-mile hike on the mountain bike trails we use to walk every day and it was great…don’t always get a chance to walk like that now. The new change I referred to in this post is we traded for a different 5th Wheel trailer and will pick it up/move everything over this coming Saturday. There were many reasons for this…I will explain in a post a little later.
So where are you and the new 5th wheel trailer going to spend the upcoming winter? Or is that something you don’t know yet?
We just received out first park assignments for 2016. Out first two parks for Jan/Feb are in Rockport, very near Corpus Christi, TX, so we’ll head there and then perhaps work our way a little further west…depending upon where the other job parks are.
Hey, we’ve been there! When I was still working for 3M I had to go to the 3M center in Austin, Texas for a few days and we decided to head south from there to Padre Island (also near Corpus Christi). It was really our first “western” trip. And we went to Rockport while we were there. I think I even remember the RV park there. I also remember that it was god-awful hot (it was June, I think).
Wow, the old small world thing again. I think there’s at least five RV Parks in Rockport now (snowbirds love it) and January/February sound like the right time to visit. :-)
I think those leaves have nothing on the amount of change you guys have been through. :-) Glad you were able to see some color this year.
Thanks, Mark.
