“There is so much to say about a past. It’s a vein of gold through a mountain, leading to an incontrovertible stone heart of truth. But the future is a horizon – a faintly visible line that will promise much, and always remain to far away to touch.” ― Aliya Whiteley, “The Beauty”
I’m focused on the horizon and never more then when facing the sea. Perhaps as Aliya Whiteley states, the metaphorical horizon is a constantly moving target which can never be reached or touched. Yet from experience I know joy is to be found in the journey and within it also lies opportunity for growth and discovery.
So I choose to pursue that elusive “horizon” rather then be satisfied to only mine the “vein of gold” of the past.

Beautiful scene, so inviting for me. I live along the Colorado Front Range where the mountains are 20 minutes away and the prairie is 20 minutes away. I find I’m drawn to the prairie where I see a broader and more open horizon. I agree we need to enjoy the journey! Thanks, Brooks.
