There will come a day when many or most are gone, Steve. They are photographic era pieces. some of the last vestiges of an agricultural based society, before the industrial age and well before our current social/service electronic age.
I enjoy seeing these older barns (buildings) as there is always a story that goes along with them. We may be able to find out what some may be or we can conjure up one in our heads. My dad at one time had a series of images over years of a collapsing barn west of town. Interesting to see the series showing the barn as it leaned more each year until it finally went down. Wonder how old the barns are.
I wish more of those stories could be known and captured, Monte. That sounds like a great project your father did with the collapsing barn. I always look at these old building and wonder about their history. Thanks.
This area seems especially rich in subject matter for a project such as that, John. Just as I believe urban industrial ruins would make a great project — I’m sure it being done by many. Thanks.
Old barns are amazing structures, we have several in the area and they are all one of a kind.

That’s an ongoing project of mine – though I don’t limit it to Nebraska…
