The last couple of weeks on my morning walks I’ve noticed clear signs of fall, not in the trees but on the forest floor. Viewing the trees/forest from any distance and you can’t discern much change but the leaves falling from certain trees give away the season quickly approaching.
Local rain and dampness of the past week has enhanced the color saturation of those early fallen leaves.
I recently upgraded my iPhone. Not to the latest and greatest model but to the previous latest and greatest being offered free or at great discount, the iPhone5s — I’m a generation behind but a few dollars ahead.
I thought the fingerprint locking/unlocking of the iPhone5s would probably be an unreliable gimmick but dang if it’s not reliable and very effective — well done, Apple! The on-board camera is a far step ahead of my old iPhone4 and of a quality actually usable for certain subjects. Since I always carry my phone with me during morning walks, it’s nice to have a better camera without having to carry more gear. These photos are from one of those walks (forgive me Paul M. for these twig photos.) :-)
Great color in those wet leaves Earl.
Thanks, Steve.
Well, I’ll tell you a little secret, Earl. I think I’ve become a fan of “twig photographs” – probably because Barb takes so many of them. Not to mention the fact that I’m becoming extremely mellow in my old age. Live and let live, right? Photographically, anyway.
I definitely like the red leaf with the dark trees in the background. It’s cheerful and moody at the same time.
Speaking of iphones – I’m a little baffled by the iphone 6 phenomenon. I’m beginning to think that Apple could come out with a new one every few months and people would still stand in line for hours (or days) to get one.
I think we all become a little more mellow with age, Paul.
The recent iPhone6 craze was the perfect storm — Larger screen sizes and the biggest upgrade to the operating system since its introduction. The loyal Apple fans have been waiting for some time for both…boom, instant demand! Apples refusal to comment or preview their new products also add to this…Apple’s smart and has the goods to back it up.
Thanks.
Yes, the leaves are making their journey to the land of decay in this part of the world. Awesome photos with the new camera! :-) I still have the iphone 4. I’ve thought about spending my money and upgrading. Nah!
Hi and thanks, Monte. My iPhone4 had started having a few problems and my contract was up for renewal — that’s what drove my decision to upgrade. At the time I made the upgrade the iPhone5s was $99 with a two year contract and they gave me a $100 credit for my iPhone4, so I actually made $1 on the deal. LOL
Go, Earl!!! Makin’ a buck! :D
I love this colours in the first image – beautiful.
I really like that shockingly red leaf right in the foreground and the dark trees in the back – such a great contrast.
I have an iPhone 5, which will be up for renewal in February, so I’ve got a while. The only thing that would cause me to upgrade is that they last time I got a 16 GB phone and find that it’s not quite enough. 20 GB would be fine to all that I want; however, looks like there are only 16, 64, and 128 available. Sigh …
Who knows, I may just skip it and wait for the 6s, which will probably come out in March or April. ;)
Thanks Paul. I don’t try to keep up with the latest and greatest any more. If my iPhone 4 had been seeming about to give up the ghost I probably would have stayed with it but the better camera made the iPhone 5s worth while.
These photos are so nice Earl. The second image is especially moody.
If some of my friends are any indication, you may find yourself using your regular camera less and less. Talking to one guy only yesterday, he admitted that he had not used his SLR in months and was shooting exclusively with his phone. The funny thing was that I hadn’t noticed a difference in the quality. I just thought he’d changed his camera’s aspect ration from 3:2 to 16:9 :)
I haven’t got to the point where I’m ready to give up on my DSLR or my Olympus 4/3’s yet but the recent phone cameras have certainly closed the gap by a good bit. Thanks, Cedric!
