This has been a protracted Fall. It seems to have happened in stages with some foliage colors at each stage — not the impact of when all leaves turn at once, but still nice.
Perhaps it’s the weather. Week to week, or even day to day, I’m never certain what to expect so why would trees be any less confused. Of late high temperatures have been in the mid-70’s for a couple of days, yesterday was in the 50’s and today the 40’s. We might best forget patterns of the clearly defined seasons as they may no longer fit the weather we experience in the future. But then who really knows or understands what may be “in the works” now. I certainly don’t.
With a cold rain today perhaps this will indeed be the end of autumn/fall moving on to an uncertain winter ahead. I felt this image seemed to mark that transition.
George Carlin has thus far been the most accurate forecaster with this prediction:
“Weather forecast for tonight: dark.”
I like the soft feel that the fog gives to your images. George Carlin was right on with his forecast!
Thanks, Steve. Yeah, George was a lot of things but he did have a way of getting to truth of a situation. Have a good weekend…stay dry!
I don’t think we will see a 70 degree day for many months here but we could have some interesting weather coming up shortly. I really like the spin on this photo, very appropriate.
Some are saying it will be a harsh Winter here while others are claiming it will be mild like last year. It will be what it will be.
Thanks!
You must be getting our clouds, Earl. Up here in Rochester-land, November is historically the cloudiest month of the year. Instead, we seem to be in the middle of a bunch of sunny days. I don’t know if that’s what Ken meant about “interesting weather coming up” – I’ll have to ask him.
Yeah, where’s George Carlin when you need him? Just think of all the fun he could have had these days……..
Yeah, George Carlin has probably rolled over in his grave a number of times with all this great comic material just waiting to be picked. :-) Have a good weekend, Paul.
George did have some great wisdom to share with us, as do you. I’m pretty sure you will enjoy all that nature provides for you. Your images will prove that.
Thanks, Monte. George Carlin would have loved and hated these last few years.
Oh, the trees are probably a lot less confused than the people just trying to understand why they are doing what they do. :-)
You’re probably right, Mark. It would be easier without have to try and answer the “why?”
That is a very beautiful and tender image – I particularly like how it shows the gentle transition from one season into the other. The movement of the leaves in the wind is wonderfully capture as well… brilliant work, Earl.
Martina, thanks!
