“Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.” ~ John F. Kennedy
During warmer days the movement of water trickling over an inclined granite rock face would possibly go unnoticed but when the temperature drops below water’s freezing point the resulting beautiful accumulative effects of these small trickles make themselves known.
Here water has found many ways down, yet must wait for warmer weather to finish its journey — building over an extended period, captured for one single moment in this photo.
I’m not sure why this photo reminded me of the above John Kennedy quote — perhaps a sign of the times we live in. We could always use a little more peace with “cooler heads” prevailing.
“We could always use a little more peace with “cooler heads” prevailing.”
So true. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks, Eric!
I think the quote suits the picture – it’s a quiet image, made literally of the gradual accumulation of many trickles of water.
Hi Journey…thanks. I made that connection but I wasn’t sure anyone else would.
At first I thought this was a close up shot of the tree bark from last week. A pleasant surprise.
Ken, glad to provide a surprise! Thanks!
The idea of “Water and Rock” has always fascinated me. This image – and the image in your previous post – both remind me of southwestern scenes, probably because of the color. Very nicely done, Earl.
Paul, there’s lots of iron in the granite rock at this location causing the rusty orange coloring…I agree it does have a somewhat southwestern look. Thanks!
The John Kennedy quote goes beautifully with the tranquil and calm atmosphere you’ve captured in your image. Wonderful work, Earl!
Martina, thank you.
excellent close up, love the details and the graphic composition
Thanks, yz!
