Now, there’s a small river near us with a trail running beside it. I was hoping to see some early autumn colors among…

A Cooler Spot From My Photo Archives
ByEarlIt’s too dang hot 🥵 to be outside making new photographs, so I’m ‘traveling’ via my photo archives today. The feels-like temperature today will be over 100°F, with the actual temperature just slightly below, accompanied by moderately high humidity. Those layers of blue sitting atop the green makes for a wonderful image. How could one resist spend some time with this working your way back through those ridges?
Anita, I seldom try to resist and enjoy these mountains whenever I get the chance. There’s always something to see and enjoy.
Beautiful layers of receding detail and such fine color make the image fit the description of the area so very well. Fine shot.
Hey, Don, thanks!
Wow, not much color down there yet eh Earl? I suppose you are still a few weeks away. Can never get tired of that view regardless.
Mark, this photo was from about four weeks ago at the beginning of the autumn colors, the colors have come and gone by now. Thanks!
Great shot, Earl. It’s a beautiful time of year and you captured it well.
Ken, thanks! I imagine this view is more brown then green now. As I was commenting to Mark above this photo was about four weeks ago just as the autumn colors were beginning.
Nice one Earl. They definitely live up to their name. The receding layers of blue add great depth to the scene.
pj, yeah, the name, Blue Ridge, is no mystery once you see them like this. Thanks!
That is a stunning view! I like how the mountains recede into the distance and the hues get softer until they almost seem to become one with the sky. You managed to capture a very calm and tranquil atmosphere… wonderful.
Thanks, Martina.
They are called Blue Ridge for a good reason. Nice!
