The Mabry Mill was originally built about 1910 by Edwin B. Mabry who operated the mill with his wife until 1936. It was restored in 1945 by the National Park Service and is today the most photographed feature on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Mill is located in Virginia and seldom do you find it without an abundance of people.
One of the spots we stopped at briefly this past weekend while touring a short part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
That is a wonderful image, Earl. I love the warm light incredibly, you can really feel how autumn is slowly coming. I especially like the composition of your first shot, the mill is beautifully framed by the wooden fence and the foliage. Brilliant work!
It was beautiful weather and early enough in the day to get a photo before all the “other tourist” arrived to crowd the scene. Thank you for your kind words, Martina. I’ve not been shooting as much and have run dry of words these past couple of weeks — I need the photos I do post to “carry me.” :-)
Its classic look is so appealing. I can see why everyone stops there and takes pictures. Of course, I doubt if theirs are as good as your today which is excellent.
Don, You’re right it clearly calls out old time mountains doesn’t it. Oh, there are many much better then this one I’m sure but thanks for saying it. Have a good one!
I doubt if any of us are going to look this good when we’re 101 years old. This is beautiful, Earl.
These are gorgeous. Although I am, through and through, a child of the southwest, sights such as this touch some core. I agree that the warm light is beautifully rendered here.
