Grow Old Gracefully
ByEarlSome encourage raging against aging and the inevitability of death. While I agree that we should maintain passion for life as we age, I believe in navigating this journey with grace and dignity. It’s unfair that modern Western society often has different/higher expectations or standards for aging women than it does for men. Because of…

Curious
ByEarlWhile walking in a local park, this little creature decided to engage me in a game of hide and seek around the trunk of the tree pictured. It quickly became evident that the squirrel was skilled at this game, circling the tree, allowing only blurred shots of a noise or bushy tail by accurately anticipating…

Halloween Streetlight Fall
ByEarlThe above is a nighttime photo where the yellow-orange light from a sodium-vapor streetlight casts a Halloween-like, colorful glow on a nearby tree and its bright yellow-orange autumn leaves. The sharp contrast against the surrounding darkness was quite striking, especially with Halloween just around the corner. Thankfully, I didn’t see any demon red eyes glaring…

Peaceful, warm shot to captured. That place looks awesome! Maybe a tad more contrast to make it pop a bit more :)
Adam, thanks. The contrast looked good on my monitor at home but when I looked at it from the office I could see it was a little low. It may be time I calibrate my monitor again. I did end up the contrast a bit.
I love everything about this one. The green and blue feel perfectly balanced; add the warm dock tones and the image sings. The clouds reflected in the lake surface and the hanging branch add the polish to a beautiful piece. I could linger here a long time.
I am relieved that the temperatures there have dropped a bit. I hope you had time to relax here in this lovely place.
Anita, thanks…this is a place I hope to return to regularly, especially this fall when the foliage colors change.
This looks like an ideal place to sit and relax. The water looks so peaceful. Glad that the heat wave broke, too. I know it can be oppressive.
Ken, I don’t even like to call it a heat wave when I think of what those in the mid and south-west have been enduring for so long now. Still I’m glad it’s a little more seasonable.
I’d put my kayak in here Earl, looks very tranquil.
Mark, on this day there were very few at the lake. It would be a decent lake for a kayak.
Weather is definitely turning around, I was driving late the other night and it was 68F. The place looks quiet, too quiet
NR…This week it’s been in the mid to upper 60’s as I walk our dogs early (6am) each morning. Those first couple of morning I felt like I almost needed a jacket. Ten degrees can make a big difference.
Beautiful greens and blues in the water. A very appealing image. I’d like to be there now.
Don, thanks. It would be a good day to sit by a lake today. You ever do any fishing?
You’ve captured an incredibly wonderful and peaceful atmosphere. I like how the jetty leads the eye into the landscape and the leaves of the tree in the foreground beautifully frame the image. The brown colour of the wooden dock adds to the green and blue tones of that great view. Wonderful!
