Christmas Snow
Christmas Weekend Snow

We woke up to a white winter wonderland this morning with about 4 inches of fine powdery snow covering everything. Just a few miles to the North and West of our location they got 6-8 inches and the North Carolina Mountains were hit with 8-12 inches. Not much snow perhaps in other parts of the country but a nice snow for these parts.

It’s a beautiful scene. I’ll bet the dogs really enjoyed the walk today.

Earl, do the dogs have to wipe their feet before entering the house?

I love when it sticks to branches like this. I have been hoping for a snow like this during my time off this week, but no such luck yet. When it has all blown off the trees, it isn’t quite as appealing.

Mark, yeah it had just the right moisture content to stick like this and there was almost no wind while it was snowing. Best conditions!

Man, these images look wonderful, the way a snowfall is suppose to look. However, it had a different look at the airport. What a mess that was. What really was amazing was, and is, the cold temperatures that came along with the snowfall. And, the cold also helps with the powdery snow. :-) Stay warm!

Monte, it never looks appealing when you’re trying to travel and especially after it’s been pushed around and is turning into a brown slush. Long hard days for you and a lot of people trying to get home after Christmas on the East Coast…glad I wasn’t one of them.
