Our main family Christmas takes place on Christmas Eve night with all the children and their families gather at our house. Thus, Bonnie and my’s Christmas celebration is over before Christmas morning, leaving Christmas Day as a time for peaceful rest. I mostly like it that way…even if sometimes it seems a little lonely. ;-)
Earl, a Merry Christmas to you and your wife!
I have to admit that this time I did prefer Christmas morning to Christmas eve – finally getting some quiet moments when the kids were still busy with their new books and not yet awake enough to claim full attention. But I guess this will change over time…
Markus, thanks. When our kids were young Christmas morning was always the highlight of the event but times and traditions do change.
Sounds all too familiar, Earl. We do pretty much the same thing. With no kids around anymore, Christmas morning is very quiet (as is most of the rest of the day). Sometimes I miss the chaos and sometimes I wonder how I got through it…..
It would certainly be hard going back to that chaos now so I’ll find contentment in dealing with a little loneliness on Christmas Day once in a while. :-)
First, I do want to mention I like the new layout, it’s easy on the eyes.
Yes, the Christmas holidays have changed for me over the years. Changes the holidays occurred with a divorce, the children starting families and creating their own celebrations, deaths of family members, and moving to different locations. I’m so glad you and Bonnie have that time for yourselves. From what I sense you two do enjoy your time together, alone makes it special! By the way, I really like this image.
Thanks, Monte! I’ve changed the layout twice this year but I’m hoping this will be it for a while. I feel satisfied with this one.
Bonnie and I were friends before anything else so we enjoy each others company even in the quiet times. As I posted this image I thought of you. It reminds me of some you’ve posted from your many daily travels.
