Another interesting face from the antique hand tool auction. This gentleman appears to be just an observer as he’s not registered to bid. It appeared he was watching the people almost more then the tools being auctioned.
There were many senior men at this sale. In many cases only someone from their generation would know what a lot of these tools were and how to use them.
For post-processing I first brought this image into Topaz Detail to enhance the details and then into Nik Silver Efex, converting it to black and white.
He has a most interesting face. Excellent portrait of him with superb processing and conversion.
I’m old enough to have experiences where I’m the only one who “was there” and knows the
details of implements or happenings…it’s fun, but makes one realize how the years are moving on! ;-)
Don, yeah, that’s when you know you’re getting old when you describe what use to be common things and others don’t even know what your talking about. :-)
What a great facial expression!
Hi Steve, thanks!
He sure has that serious look. And, you are probably right, many of those tools, and their usefulness, would be obscure to many of us. Sort of like the younger generation who want to know what a dial phone is or an 8-track tape or a slide-rule.
Monte, I believe I still have a few 8-tracks stuck away in a drawer somewhere…I believe one of them was the 5th Dimensions. I’m dated! ;-)
He sure has an interesting expression on his face. Great candid catch!
Earl,
Great detail and character in this photo. It looks aged, like a 50’s photo. I can imagine the stories he could tell.
Well done!
Alan
