Eye-to-Eye, Common ElandThis begins a new and for me a different series of photos today. I’m calling it “Eye-to-Eye” and that title is self explanatory. This first image may look like a cow but it’s not, it’s a Common Eland, also known as the Southern Eland. They belong to the antelope family found in east and southern Africa.
No, I haven’t taken a trip to Africa. All the photos in this series will have been made locally.
The photos in this series were taken with a Canon S90 — it makes for some really close in shooting. ;-)

“Maybe it’s not about having a beautiful day, but about finding beautiful moments. Maybe a whole day is just too much to ask. I could choose to believe that in every day, in all things, no matter how dark and ugly, there are shards of beauty if I look for them.” ― Anna White https://meanderingpassage.com//wp-content/uploads/images/2020/04/EBM-20120707115251.jpg The…
I’ve been absent from the Internet in most ways since last Christmas, except for a single comment on a friend’s blog. A Christmas guest brought Bonnie and me an unintentional present during their visit, Covid. We were fully vaccinated and boosted, so it affected us like…

And here I thought that Salisbury was a little more civilized. Well, I guess they do call it “Common” Eland, so you might expect to see them around. :)
Oh, this is going to be fun!!! I like this idea and excited to see the results of the S90. It really would have been cool to see your reflection in the eye, or can you?
Monte, thanks! I hope it’s fun…I certainly had fun making the photos and processing them. No, I was too straight on to catch my reflection. I believe the reflections in the eye is from the gound.

Paul, you’ve heard the saying…”It’s a jungle in my back yard” before haven’t you? ;-)
I love the slight glint in his eye.
Thanks! I liked the glint and how dark and shiny the eye was as well.
