Small (1/4 inch/.63cm) delicate flowers growing along a rock wall I came across during a walk. I didn’t have a macro lens with me so I made due with my 70-300mm VR, handheld — 1/200 sec at f/9, ISO 800, 230mm. I often find I like the effect of doing closeups with this lens, it’s sharp, at most lengths, and has a pleasing bokeh.
I cropped this image to more closely match the thumbnail aspect from the home page. I’ve noticed for some images I like the “automatic thumbnail crop aspect” more than the original aspect. I’m trying to determine when it works and when it doesn’t.
Post-processing included Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Topaz Detail and NIK Color Efex.
Very lovely and yes, very delicate !
I like the way this lens’ narrow plane of focus giving the rest of the image a nice blur. Looks great.
A fine capture of the textures and color in this mushroom. I can’t imagine how one learns to distinguish those eatable from those poisonous.
