It’s Monday morning and I’ve got this pounding in my head. My hard partying days are far behind me, so in this case it’s roofers putting a new roof on our house. Our old roof was recently inspected and found to have shingles cracking, probably leaking in the next year or so.
You could also say this is our summer vacation photo. Certainly it’s where any monies that might have went to a real vacation has gone — but better a waterproof roof. :-)
I processed this image in NIK Silver Efex Pro using the Delta 100 film type, slightly lightened. The choice of this film type was highly influence by my admiration of recent Chris Klug Delta 100 photos. I’m certainly pleased with the results Silver Efex achieves.
I feel your pain Earl! We had a new roof installed several years ago and I still find an old roofing nail on the ground from time to time.
Steve, a new roof has to been one of the biggest “frights” of home ownership. I’m sure a lot of our neighbors with homes about the same age as ours are wondering if they will have to be next.
Hmmm, that doesn’t look very ‘vacationy’ to me, Earl! :-) At least you were proactive and are getting it fixed before it starts leaking. I’m glad to see that you are not up there doing the work yourself. I know what a handyman you are.
Paul, trust me, looking at our bank account it’s definitely ‘vacation’ you’re seeing in this photo. :-) The funny thing is…the higher you go, the less handy I get.
Makes me laugh ;)) Cool capture !
Thanks, Mariana!
Been there done that two years ago, last year new furnce and on demand hot water and new Pella windows, I couldn’t afford a vacation to go to the next block.
Don C., you’re ahead of us for sure. We’ve checked out the on demand but our water pressure is marginal for one of those. Windows…don’t get me started. All to be done in the next couple of years. Nothing like putting money in a home that’s worth less then we paid for it. ;-)
I just got the demo of Silver Efex a couple days ago, I have 12 days or so to make up my mind on it. I really like it so far, but the budget conscious side of me is trying to convince me I should be able to replicate all of this in Lightroom or PS. My creative side is winning so far.
Good luck with that roof. Looks like some room for some solar panels up there.
Mark, I’d have to say listen to your creative side as far as Silver Efex goes. I’m sure all the b&w effects could be replicated in PS but at what cost…for me…a lot of TIME. I find these well designed NIK plug-ins to be valuable because they allow me to do more with less time invested and like they say…”time is money.” ;-)
Yeah, a great spot for solar…perhaps later.
