The above image is one from this past Saturday’s visit with Paul Lester to “Bull Hole.” I recently imported the photos I took during our visit and found several I liked. Paul has already posted, here and here, some wonderful shots he made.
These bright red flowers with the dam/waterfall in the background attracted for me. I like that the waterfall is very much blurred but still recognizable as a waterfall. I was shooting for and hoping that would be the case when I made this photo but it’s hard to tell the quality of the actual results when looking at a 3″ screen on the back of the camera.
I was using my Nikon D300 and a general purpose Tamron 28-300mm zoom lens. In the middle range this lens is sharp, as you can see by this photo, it’s only out at 300mm it becomes a little soft.
You’ve probably noticed that I’ve totally changed the theme of Meandering Passage again — it wasn’t something I’d planned on doing. I read this past week that WordPress may be suing the creator of the theme I’d been using because the theme was not under a General Public License (GPL), as required by WordPress. If this becomes a legal battle hosting companies could ask for this theme to be removed from WP installs until the battle is settled. I decided I didn’t need the drama so I found another theme and switched. Sorry for the many recent changes.
Fine image. I like the contrasting colors, especially as they come over a bit reserved, not vividly jumping in my face. And there is enough background information to make the eyes wander and inspire the brain to ponder about the setting – garden, park, fenced property, protection rail?
Re. the wordpress theme: I like those clean grey colors, forming a neutral backdrop for all kinds of images. In my eyes no reason to feel sorry for anything.
Markus thanks. There is a certain surface simplicity to this image but also more for those who wish to search deeper.
I appreciate it on the theme. I do like this new theme so now I’m thinking it may have been a good thing after all.
Earl, I really like how the red flowers stand out against the soft water. Great job!
Hey thanks, Steve. I’m glad you like this one.
The blog looks good to me, especially the light gray color, it works well for me. In fact I have been thinking about changing my background color and making it a bit lighter.
Thanks Monte, I’m really starting to like this new blog theme so it’s turning out to be a good thing.
