Kids and Sparklers – 4th of JulyOur tradition for the 4th of July holiday has us spending the evening of July 3rd on the farm of my sister and brother-in-law for their annual celebration. This includes 25 to 40 family members and friends each bringing some sort of food or drink.
Independence Day FireworksIt begins with a late evening cover dish picnic followed by conversation and relaxation while the kids play games and enjoy sparklers (closely supervised) and then as the sky grows dark a very nice fireworks display begins.
If you don’t believe it’s a real tradition, I wrote a longer but similar post as this last year and even the photos are somewhat similar — but I swear these were taken this year on the 3rd of July. ;-)
My brother-in-law does all the fireworks and each year they’ve gotten more impressive as he’s learned what’s the best types and the best sequence to shoot them.

“If love is under siege, it is because it threatens the very essence of commercial civilization. Everything is designed to make us forget that love is our most vivid manifestation and the most common power of life that is in us. Shouldn’t we wonder how the lights that glimmer in the eye can blow a…
It sure looks like fun, love those family gatherings. I had not thought about those sparklers for a long time. They were about the only thing we bought the children since we usually took them to the cities fireworks displays.
In our safety conscious society I don’t know if many parents let their kids play with sparklers but I can testify kids still love and are fascinated by them.
Fine pictures of a celebration of the 4th. I like the sparklers for their lighted quality and the ambient light still in the shot. The sky fireworks look great.
