Bayonets
Bayonets

Perhaps as a child I watched too many military/war movies, but the first thing I thought of when viewing this photo after import was bayonets on the end of rifles.

Are abstract images a bit like ink blots? If so, I don’t want my interpretations analyzed. Better to not know.

It was the strong lines and bright greens and yellows which caught my eye originally — I’m sticking to that story.

I for one never attempt to over analyze a situation. Enjoy the moment and the image!

It does have very strong lines. Nice shot with good detail and color. It’s interesting the think about the
‘history’ we bring to viewing a picture that colors our interpretation.

I strongly feel we’re all influenced by out experiences and history in how we interpret and view things. Sometimes that’s for the good and sometimes not. Thanks.

Don, yeah, “A Walk in the Sun” is one of the classics. There were so many “War Movies” made during that time period, many for PR. I like a couple of John Ford’s movies from the 40’s, “They Were Expendable” and “The Battle of Midway” about the Pacific Theater and then early 60’s movies of WWII in Europe, “The Longest Day” and “Battle of the Bulge.” I don’t claim that any of them are very factual, but I enjoy them anyway. Of course I’d have to include “The Dirty Dozen” and the “Guns of Navarone” in that list as well. Oh, I guess I just confirmed why I saw these plants as bayonets. ;-)
