I’ve mentioned in previous post of seeing many alligators during our recent southern Florida trip but haven’t posted many photos of them. This may turn out to be the week for an alligator series.
This particular alligator crossed the dirt road we were traveling on and smoothly slid into the waters on my side. I pulled up even with the gator before stopping the car and making this shot braced against the drivers side window frame. There was enough sunlight penetrating the heavy foliage so the colors of the shallow water bottom and greenery reflections popped.
Not a place you’d want to stop and cool your feet in the water.
A fine action shot with excellent color. Shooting from the car seems like a fine idea to me! :-)
don, yeah, I didn’t see any need to leave the car. ;-)
So, was this shot at 28 mm or 300mm? :-) No, I would not want to be testing the waters, I want to keep all my toes and feet and legs. I bet it is neat to watch one of them as they are pretty graceful in the water.
Monte, let’s just say it was closer to 300mm than 28mm. :-) They are graceful in the water and deceptively fast on land for short distances.
Gators are intresting creatures but definitely best viewed from a distance!
Hi Steve, I found them fascinating in their natural environment. It’s completely different then seeing them captive in a zoo.
