If you do not expect the unexpected you will not find it, for it is not to be reached by search or trail. – Heraclitus
I made this photo at Rookery Bay, Florida, because I liked the play of the vertical grass stems and single leafy plant against the wavy softness of the water — it spoke to me with dancing reflections and energy.
It was only after the fact I realized a dragonfly (center) had invited itself to be part of the composition — now that is almost all I see.
I like it as a picture of the water and grass, but also as an abstract if I dismiss the sharp detail and see in an impressionistic way. Nice one.
Don, Interesting you mention it as an abstract as that was the way I initially saw it. But once my friend the dragonfly inserter itself I kind of move away from that direction. Thanks!
I personally like the different colors off the water, when I enlarged I saw pink, red, blue among others.
Don, thanks, I’m glad you noticed the reflected colors. They are quite apparent in the larger original image.
Excellent match for the Heraclitus quote! It definitely works already as an abstract (here I could imagine to try it as a b&w, just to remove even more reality), but of course the dragonfly and the correspondig twig with leaves form an excellent subject.
Markus, thanks, I came across the quote and it seem to be perfect for this particular photo. I will probably later take a copy of this image and see where I can go processing it as more of an abstract.
flower in the weeds, beautiful
yz, I like the way you phrased it, thanks!
