Family Room Panorama
Family Room Panorama - Family Room Series

I felt it fitting to end my Family Room Photo Series with an actual photo of the family room. I set my tripod on top of the coffee table, mounted my Nikon D700 with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens at 24mm and made 6 photos for a 360 degree panorama of the room. Six then became two in Photoshop CS4 — I thought it best to go with two 180 degree segments.

Let me state that the room is not as large as it appears in these images — a trick of the lens. Also, the coffee table is not the exact center of the room which added additional distortions. As a note, there are two leather couches at the edges of the segments you only get to see the corners of.

It was a first effort at this so considering that I’m okay with the results — this was about trying new things. I may go back and improve on it sometime.

Cool! :-) I love panoramas. You have a warm and welcoming home, Earl. With photos on the walls, I like that.

Looks like some nice images on the wall, anyone we know?

I like how you finished this series with the panorama. It has created a warm, inviting feeling, like a family room should have. I am drawn to the artifacts in your room, the framed photos, what looks to be a family photo wall, the several entrances, windows, etc. What surprised me was the last things I noticed was the fireplace. I mentioned how inviting and warm it feels but never noticed the fireplace. That tells me how well you guys have done in creating a warm and inviting feel. I’d enjoy plopping down in one of the chairs.
