Changing of the seasons
There were numerous signs of fall this week as leaves are quickly changing to their fall colors. Taking these photos I felt I was standing on a cusp of summer and fall, some leaves still green and others bright red or yellow.
I’ve been interested in finding a small camera that would fit in a pocket, allows manual control and could shoot RAW as well as JPEG. I wasn’t satisfied with the physical size or low light performance of most of the previous RAW capable cameras. However, with Canon’s new S90IS I may have found what I’ve been looking for. It has the same sensor and many of the features as the new G11 except in a very pocketable package. It’s reported to have better high ISO performance then the older G10. Something I might be interested in taking a look at.
Two photos for the same low price today. :-)
Yep, just what a passionate photographer needs, another camera. :-) I go through that all the time.
Yes, we are on the edge of the seasons. For some reason I am really enjoying the fall this year, even the cool mornings.
You’ve picked good example of leaves showing the in between colors of summer and fall.
The second tree is a beauty too. Ours here have been too dry and are turning a dull yellow, then brown, then they fall. UGH!
Wow! Bargain day at the fair! And, what lovely bargains, too. I agree that your photos clearly say transition summer to fall. I haven’t investigated the S90, but I know I am hankering for the G11. My G7 is a handy-dandy casual camera, but no RAW files; and then, the higher ISO performance is supposed to be so much better with the latest in that series. Tempting. Now, I just need to have some money fall out of a tree.
@Monte Stevens – Just thinking of helping the economy along a little. ;-)
@don – I’m afraid with all the rain and cool weather we’re having the leaves here might also not last long.
@Anita Jesse – A key interest for me besides the RAW file capability and higher ISO is for the camera to be small enough to actually slip into a jacket or shirt pocket. The G11 is still a little large for that. The S90IS has the same sensor and the same image processor as the G11, and a little bit faster lens. It’s also a small sleek package that can easily fit a pocket. There’s a few features the G11 has the the S90IS doesn’t like the moveable LCD screen and a little less zoom range. But those aren’t deal breakers for me. The S90IS is also a little cheaper. :-)
