I began a post yesterday and deleted it because it was about nothing. I know Jerry Seinfield can created a TV show and make millions all about nothing but I’m finding it difficult to finish one post. Where’s the justice in that? :-)
I’m reading all about Apple’s release of the iPhone 3G S and IPhone OS 3.0. It sounds like Apple has moved the bar significantly upward again. There’s one major thing that prevents me from getting an iPhone–the carrier, AT&T! I’ve had AT&T service before and the coverage was spotty at best. This was before 3G was available but I can’t imagine the 3G situation in this area is very good. I use my Cell Phone as my home phone so spotty coverage is a big deal for me.
I did upgrade my iPod Touch to version 3.0 of the new iPhone/iPod Touch OS. I’m just in the process of exploring new features so I don’t have an opinion yet on it. I didn’t have any problems with the upgrade so that’s a good start.
So this is my nothing post for today.
I also will not be getting the iPhone anytime soon. It’s very likely that I have one of the oldest cell phones in town; if my memory is correct the phone has been in service for about seven years now. A few weeks ago I was showing it to some students at the museum and one ask me if it was digital. Wise guy, it’s not that old!
I bought the 3G last fall after losing my old Windows CE based phone on an airplane. It works for me. Nothing is perfect, including us, so I will learn to use it. The new phone does not interest me either. I loved Steve’s comment!
I am replying here on my iPhone 3GS . :-).. I have to agree that the biggest weakness is AT&T. However I live in an area where the coverage is pretty strong so I have only had minor issues. We actually filed a tech support ticket because our signals dropped from 4 bars to 2 or 1 at home one week. Within 12 hours of the call I got a text saying the issue was worked on by one of their network engineers. I was back to 4/5 bars at home.
I think the weakness is showing now with the 3.0 that AT&T doesn’t move development along a fast as Apple does.
@Mark: Hey, congratulations on the iPhone 3GS–I not willing to cross over to AT&T for one but that doesn’t mean I don’t have serious gear envy over the iPhones. I’m a shade of green as I write this! :-)
I’m happy you live in an area where you can get decent service and enjoy one.
