I did my first “flowed” of images into the templates I’d created for my SoFoBoMo ’09 book and was pleased to discover that adding this level of structure helped consolidate my thoughts and design. I’m using Adobe Indesign with previously created page templates so it was an easy pick and drop process.
I’d decided on initial photo groupings for different sections or chapters while post-processing the images but actually placing and seeing pages with opposing photos, spaces and columns for text clarified and in cases changed my groupings.
This degree of change was unexpected but a pleasant surprise.
I’m still struggling writing some of the text (having even started on some of it) but with what appears to be sufficient time remaining I’m letting things develop at their own pace.
We’ll see.
