When home, my habits would indicate I’m more of a late night person then an early morning one. I enjoy staying up late, which usually means that I don’t rise extremely early in the mornings. That’s not to say I sleep till noon, I’m normally up by 6:30 am, which is before sunrise during the winter.
However, when visiting the ocean there’s nothing I enjoy more then getting up early, greeting the new day, walking along the near empty beach or staking out an observation point, taking a few photos and watching the sunrise. The quietude and beauty gives an amazing start for the day.
Some like to use this early time to exercise and get a jump on being productive…more power to them!
For me it’s productive time in my own Zen way. For me those mornings are like cleaning my minds office, sorting and prioritizing all those miscellaneous thoughts and bits of information that have accumulated and watering the seeds of dreams and possibilities. Sometimes there’s even the luxury of not thinking at all…simply absorbing.
Afterwards, I feel recharged and usually go looking for a good breakfast. :-)
Earl, you’ve been coming up with some really sweet shots here lately! :-)
I’m an early riser and love to be out at the time that you describe. After a good morning of picture huntin’ a good breakfast is always in order! ;-)
