I’ve been lax in keeping the “Now Reading” section of this blog updated. It’s not that I’m not reading, it’s perhaps a case of feeling like who cares I guess.
I’ve considered doing away with this section entirely, but for now I’ll keep it and do better with updating. After all how could I expect anyone else to care if I don’t care enough to maintain it. ;-)
There were two books that for months were listed as currently reading. After all that time I feel I own brief recaps:
Welcome to Oz: A Cinematic Approach to Digital Still Photography with Photoshop (VOICES)
This was a hard read for me even though I look upon this book as being very good. Most of my difficulties come from the way I read technical books. I often end up reading a few pages per sitting coming back for many small doses. This book was involved and technical enough that for me it didn’t lend well to this method. It also assumes you are very knowledgeable about Photoshop.
I think perhaps I’ll come back and read this again later. I believe I’ll find more nourishment for thought with a second read.
It does push the boundaries of photographer to artist and perhaps I’m not quite there yet. :-)
Digital Nature Photography: The Art and the Science
A good general book on Digital Nature Photography with much information and useful tips. It was actually better then I expected and could probably be useful at most levels of photography.
The only negative was that the printing and editing of this book leaves something to be desired. You certainly find typos, poor sentence structure and some questionable font selections. The content far exceeds the packaging.
I could recommend either or both books if digital photography/art is your interest.
