We arrived back in Seattle, WA, at about 6:00 AM on Sunday Morning, May 25th.

There was no rush to leave the boat so we had a nice breakfast before beginning the disembarking process a little after 9 AM. The process was very easy, taking a total of about 40 minutes.

The ease of the disembarking process was more then offset by the frustration we experienced getting our “reserved” rental car from Thrifty. All I’ll say now is that it was a nightmare. A very bad customer experience!

Our first stop for the day was a short visit and lunch with a niece that is living in Tacoma, WA. We decided to see a little of the Oregon coast so we drove to Warrenton, OR, to spend Sunday night. Historically, Warrenton is the region at the end of the Lewis and Clark Trail.

Monday morning we visited Fort Stevens State Park, OR. Fort Stevens was a coastal defense fort which saw active service from the Civil War days to the end of World War II.

From there it was a drive down Coastal Highway 101 to Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach, OR. Wow, what a classic view of the Northwest Pacific Coast!

By afternoon it was time to followed Sunset Hwy (26) through forest/lumber country to Portland, then I-84 East to Cascade Locks, along the Columbia River, for Monday nights stay.
