I enjoyed great weather today while trying out my new Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens. It’s extremely sharp and fast. I love the shallow depth of field you get when you open it wide open.
It definitely will be one of my favorites, but I believe I still prefer my Tamron 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Micro for general walkabouts, due to its all around flexibility. Sometimes you can’t manually zoom (walk closer or back away), like across water or when your standing on the edge of a drop-off. :-)
Today, my mind kept drifting to things I’d rather be shooting. You see, my wife’s in Europe on business. Coworkers and her departed Friday to spent this weekend in Paris before attending a meeting in Belgium.
An email from her this morning said they were at the Louvre. Man, I’d love to be trying out this 50mm lens in Paris. ;-)
For sure, it’s one of my favorite lenses. You should try some of that manual zooming on the water! :-) I wouldn’t advise the steep drop-offs, though. ;-)
Regarding Paris … well, it’s not Paris, but you could come to Charlotte and take some pictures of, ummm, well, err, there’s always Lowes Motor Speedway!!!
Paul,
You’re right…it’s not Paris! ;-)
