I’m a bit of a statistic junky who enjoys reviewing who’s visiting this site and what they’re doing while they’re here.
Some visitors appear to be regulars while others arrive via a search on Google or by a kind link from another site. The average length of stay for many visitors is short, less then a minute.
I guess we would all like to write blogs where people felt comfortable to sit, read and stay a while. Blogs with a low bounce rate, high page view, where people feel the visit is value added.
Sounds like a goal for 2008?
Good luck on that goal, friend. I would imagine that most blogs have a high bounce rate unless their content is extremely, and I mean _extremely_ interesting.
By changing the format of my blog just a little bit, as in showing fewer posts per page, I was able to decrease my bounce rate from 90% to about 75%.
I think that most people, in general, stop by for a quick read and then head on about their business. Sure, it would be nice to have people linger and post, but with so many blogs to read, I have to be thankful that I’m included. :-)
From 90% to 75% is a pretty significant improvement. My bounce rate currently is around 88% so I’d be happy with 75%. :-)
