It’s been an unusual week in that my wife and I have been to see two movies. Normally we seldom do a movie a month. You no doubt will not need to be told which one of the movies was my pick.
Here’s what we saw and my impressions:
Ratatouille – Rated G: The story of a little rat with big dreams of becoming a chef. If you want to take your young kids to a movie you can all enjoy without being worried that there will be scenes that are inappropriate for them, this is it. It may not be Pixar’s best work, but the animation is very good. it’s also got a good story and plot that holds your interest. One way I judge a video or movie is to remember how many times I check my watch while watching it. The more times I check my watch the less it’s holding my attention. I didn’t check my watch once during Ratatouille, highly recommended.
Transformers – Rated PG-13: First let me say that the special effects were very good, actually maybe too good. By that I mean the Transformer Robots were so detailed that when the fast action scenes were taking place it was busy and confusing to the point of losing impact. As far as the story and plot, it was very weak. Bad robots vs. good robots…fight it out. So there, I’ve given away the whole movie. There’s lots of violence but no blood and gore. I think PG-13 is a good guideline. I did look at my watch at least twice. I wouldn’t rule it a waste. I thought it was worth watching for the special effects. My wife had different thoughts. It was okay if you already have an interest.
