The fact is, it’s hard blogging. It’s even harder not to get discouraged by the blogging process. Many people become so discouraged that they quit.
If you’ve start blogging thinking within a few months you’re going to be one of the top bloggers, you’ll likely be disappointed. The odds are against that happening unless you’ve got powerful contacts or supporters. You need to be realistic.
However, with a positive attitude you’ll find blogging can be very rewarding in itself. I’ve listed a few tips below to help you keep your head straight during some of the more difficult moments.
1. Don’t be discouraged. Don’t listen to people who try to discourage you and there will always be people who will try. Their reasons for this will be mostly about them and have little to do with you. Don’t let it get to you and don’t let it show in your content. People prefer to read positive content so keep your chin up.
2. Make it yourself. Wanting good luck? Focused hard work often makes your own good luck and it never hurts to spend time planning.
4. Not always right. There’s going to be people you strongly disagree with, either in you blogs comments or in post on other blogs. Communicate, discuss, or debate to your hearts content but don’t hold a grudge or try to get even. Also don’t fall into the trap of always having to have the last word or of resorting to name calling. Drop it. It’s hard to drive forward if you continue to look back.
3. Acknowledge, and move on. Don’t dwell on the problems you encounter. Look at them as opportunities and quickly turn to the solutions. When I encounter a problem I acknowledge it and try to move on. For example: “Ok that sucks, but what have I learned and how can I move from here to a positive result?”
5. Don’t like it, change it. If your unhappy with your blogs readership, format or content, make changes! Decide what your not happy with and formulate a plan to improve or change it. If you want to improve your readership or the presence of your blog then you need to continue to evolve and find what works. There’s no guarantee’s and you may never be an A-Lister. Get over it.
6. Be your best fan. Your attitude may be the most important enabler to your success. Use positive self-talk to maintain and motive your attitude and actions. Visualize positive results and those actions which lead to them. Socialize with positive people and read positive blogs. This not only counts towards you blogging but also with your life away from your blog.
May you have many successful years blogging.

A great post, Earl. As you can see, it spawned a post from me! :-) Very much words of wisdom. I would say to anyone who blogs, the best reason to get into is for the love it. That’s what keeps it going.
This is certainly not something done for fame and fortune. Some blogs will take off and get lots of posts, most won’t. Also, it’s not fun, at least for me, to get caught up in those popularity contests.
I say, write because, well, you like to write. It’s another creative outlet. My favorite is #6, Be your best fan!
