Last week I joined the ranks of those Americans that have a zero Credit Card balance. Yes that’s right, I became one of those that owes nothing to the rip-off credit card companies and banks of this world that charge interest rates that would make Blackbeard blush.
I guess I’m feeling my own vulnerability since I’ve move into my fifties. The mental weight of this debt was especially heavy, so I moved some of my assets and paid off all out-standing balances.
It wasn’t an easy journey to reach this point. It’s one that’s taken years and required overcoming costs of a divorce, several moves, a marriage, the establishment of a new household, a child in college, a child out of work, and being unemployed, all which made arriving here take a little longer.
But damn if it doesn’t feel great to be here!
Of course I cannot take the stage alone.¬ None of this would have been possible except for the support of my loving wife.
