Until yesterday I hadn’t planned on making any changes to the design of Meandering Passage for 2007. I wasn’t unhappy with the previous design but then I wasn’t in love with it either. Needless to say I got a “wild hair” and have totally replaced it.

After looking around I came up with this one. I wanted to keep a three column display but I wanted the two smaller columns to be a bit larger then previously. This one gives me most of what I want. It will take some time to modify the design so that all my plugins work as before.

Let me know if you like this or if you have any suggestions.

Hi Earl,

Overall I really like the redesign. But then again, I had nothing against your original layout. A couple of comments:

– It’s nice and clean. It’s very readable with a good amount of whitespace. My blogger blog is so dang crowded and narrow. You’ve got a lot of space to work with here. Days of designing for 800×600 are over finally. Looks very good.

– While I like the extra column width on the right hand side, it might be a tad too much on the rightmost column. It pays off down below when you have the book info and stuff (aside:Did you like Stephen King’s The Cell?? I was thinking about getting that one – let me know what you thought of it.) but at the top it almost looks too wide because the Categories are all short single words.

– IMO it still might need a photographic image of some sort (or maybe additional graphic elements) on the front page. It’s almost too austere for my tastes. Although it’s only my opinion and I’m no designer by any stretch. ;)

– The blue title text almost sinks back on me instead of standing out. Maybe something lighter, brighter or bolder?

– Overall I like the font and colour choices. The fonts are all pleasant and very readable.

There you go, my 2 Cents (CDN) :)
