Having free time to read, research, and write content for this blog can often be an issue.¬ My “day job” is a full time IT position that normally consumes 55-60 hours each week with some home work. Then there’s the other priorities of normal life such as family, friends, eating, sleeping, recreation, etc.¬ Finding a few quiet moments to put together two thoughts much less read, analyze, and write coherently is definitely a challenge many times.
My “normal” week day blogging routine goes something like this.¬ I get up in the morning and shower and dress for work. Then grabbing either a cup of coffee or a bit of breakfast I settle down in front of the computer for 20-30 minutes to scan the latest news, weather, and new overnight blog posts in my news reader.¬ I seldom write any post during this brief session, but have on rare occasions (late for work).¬ Then it’s off to work and a 40 minute commute.
At work, if conditions permit I’ll take a 15-20 minute mid-morning break¬ and once again scan news and new blog post. I may begin a post of my own during this break that will be finished later.¬ Lunch is often taken at work where I eat in front of my computer either reading other blogs or writing a post of my own. Many of my daily post are written or completed during lunch time.¬ The afternoon includes another similar break and sometimes I will put in a few extra minutes at the end of my workday to get some content I’ve worked on during lunch or breaks posted.
Then it’s 40 minutes back home, dinner with the wife and catching up on what’s happened during the day.¬ I’ll normally take a little time to relax and unwind and if there’s not any pressing house whole chores I’ll move to my home office for a couple of hours computer/Internet time.¬ My wife is often on her computer so we can continue our conversations while mutually surfing the web.¬ The week day evening periods and time on weekends are my main blogging times.
Here’s my point with all of this.¬ I’m sure there are many out there that juggle the same or much worst routines and still find time to post multiple times per day.¬ Maybe it’s just me and I’m not all that creative…that options on the table and has been considered.
If you have any hints or creative tips about making the blogging process easier, or would just like to share your own methods and/or story, I would love to hear it.

Hi Earl,
Very insightful post. So much so I wanted to ponder it a little while before sharing with my own post. Check it out here (http://jack-of-all-tradez.blogspot.com/2006/08/blogging-for-mere-mortals.html).
