For a couple of months I’ve been intrigued by the personal content management software “Tinderbox” by Eastgate Systems. I’ve search the Internet for discussions or tips, read all the information on the Eastgate web site and the Tinderbox Wiki, have downloaded the Tinderbox demo, and viewed the documentation and tutorials (what there are) and I still consider Tinderbox a strange beast full of contradictions. If there’s one thing that almost everyone agrees upon it’s that the learning curve is long with Tinderbox. I’m not sure that’s a fault of Tinderbox. It seems that the real difficulty is that Tinderbox does not force you into any one process or solution but provides the raw capability to accomplish task in many ways. As someone with a programming and problem solving background, I’ve come to recognize Tinderbox as a set of objects/tools that you assemble to suit you needs.

Thanks to the recent spring sale of Tinderbox I’m interested enough to make the investment so I can delve deeper. I’ll follow-up with more details as I learn more.
