The long path

This photo was shot at 14mm with a full-frame D700 so it’s extremely wide angle. This lens is especially good If turned slightly off center to make a path look as if it stretches far into the distance. There was no cropping of this image and all processing was done in Lightroom 3.

The path

With photography I feel I’m traveling along a path, or sometimes even slightly off the path. Looking around I see I’m certainly not alone on journey. There are many other photographers as well, some ahead, some behind and others nearby. I see “flowers” along the path, attracting the attention of photographers. Some attract a large …

Snow from the north, snow from the south

It’s all about the weather again. Last night a low pressure center delivered snow to much of the Southern U.S. We were on the northern edge of the storm and received perhaps 2 inches of the fresh powdery stuff. Our last snow, a little over a week ago, was from being on the southern edge of a system passing to the north of us. Luckily we haven’t accumulated any large amounts the way so many north of us have…

But as always there were photos to be taken. For a change in pace, I switched from the wider lenses …

The Weekend

I didn’t post this weekend, not even my “Weekend Photo” post. I think this lapse of productivity was due to my continual battle with a head cold, weekend dinner and Christmas Party commitments, and a general lack of motivation on my part. That last “reason” is probably the truer cause! I’m pulling a photo for …

Pine Forest Path

One of the many pine forest that exist in this area. There’s approximately 115 species of pine trees located over most of the northern hemisphere. While you don’t always think of pines as being long lived, they, depending upon the specie, can live from 100 to a 1,000 years or more. Another of the many …

Being There

This first photo is a favorite walking area of mine–a forest section of a small park located not far from my home. It’s the same trail I posted a color version of on July 8th. I worked up this black and white version made from a slightly different angle then the color one and I …
