One of the technical gizmos I added this year to our arsenal of travel tools was a dashboard video camera…although technically ours isn’t mounted on the dashboard but instead to the upper windshield, behind the rearview mirror.

Why did I want a dash-cam? Well, it’s like insurance. You hope you never need it but if you get into a situation where someone cuts you off or pulls in front of you, stopping short, you’ll wish you had a video to prove what happened.  There are many makes and models of dash-cams out there but the one(1) I purchased can record at a resolution of up to 1080p HD and records via a time loop, always keeping a user defined minimum number of previous minutes of recording available.

The dash-cam video below was recorded as we returned “home” to Cedar Key RV Resort from Cedar Key. You’ll see our Vilano 5th Wheel at the end. I’m pleased with the quality considering it was recorded looking into the sun through a dirty windshield.  I’ll post a video showing a bit of the town of Cedar Key a little later.
