Bridge under construction

The longer floor timbers on this bridge are new, replacing older shorter rotting ones. What you can’t see very well is a stack of the new timbers on the right around the curve of the path awaiting installation — it’s a work in progress.

This photo appealed to me perhaps in part because we are all a work in progress and if we’re smart…we always will be. I only hope with this bridge they’ve allowed for the extra weight and possible future load this extension may bring.

  1. That is a wonderful article Earl, I like the connection you made with always developing and moving forward and discovering new horizons. The light pattern on the timber looks very beautiful too.

    • Martina, thanks! To be honest, I sometimes struggle with personal change, more so in the past. Yet at the same time I don’t wish to become stagnant so I’m learning to be more flexible.

  2. It’s interesting that they feel comfortable leaving it under construction with people using the bridge at the same time. Nice shot.

    • Don, yeah, I had the same thought. It’s mostly foot traffic but there were no handrails or anything. Thanks!

  3. Lovely photo and terrific point. When we stop growing and changing, it’s all over. Like you, I have to keep working at this one.

  4. You seem to bring up interesting ideas in your post with few words. They leave us with thoughts to ponder and reflect on. I like that about your blog. Thanks!

  5. Earl, I trust that you don’t walk too close to the edge!

    • Steve, well since I’m still here writing this let’s just say I don’t walk “too close” to the edge. ;-)

  6. You got the gears in my head moving with your words Earl. It’s too early it seems, but it did give me pause and think about my direction in life.

    Very fitting frame indeed.

    • NR, it’s never too early to start dreaming or planning. The key is when it’s time, do not be fearful of taking that first step…this from someone who hasn’t always done so himself. :-)

      Thanks!

  7. My boards squeek a bit more than they used to. :-)
